91直播 music faculty members Evgeni Raychev and Jennifer Dalmas are among the musicians who will be presenting music by Czechoslovakian composers during the "Nationalism Concert" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the 91直播 campus.NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Music by three Czechoslovakian composers will be featured in the "Nationalism Concert," the third of four concerts included in Stephen F. Austin State University's Chamber Music in the Pines Festival. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in Cole Concert Hall on the 91直播 campus.
The concert will open with Gideon Klein's "Trio pro housle, vioulu a vionocello," featuring guest artists Ivo Ivanov, violin; Cornelia Demian, viola; and 91直播 lecturer Evgeni Raychev, cello.
Violinist Jennifer Dalmas, 91直播 associate professor of music will join the three musicians in performing Antonin Dvor脿k's "String Quartet No. 12 in F major, Op. 96, B. 179, 'American.'"
The string players will close the concert with "String Quartet No. 1 (1876), A m茅ho zivota ('From My Life')" by Bedrich Smetana.
"The two string quartet that we are playing are true staples of the repertoire, well-known works that evoke feelings of Nationalism with wonderful Czech and American folk tunes," said Dalmas. "The third piece on our program is by a more obscure but brilliant composer, Gideon Klein. He wrote this wonderful piece for string trio just one year before his death in a concentration camp, at the age of 25."
The Chamber Music in the Pines Festival will close in Cole Concert Hall with the "Classicism Concert" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16. Cole Concert Hall is located in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr.
