Vice President for University Advancement

“Making quality higher education available to potential students is one of the most important things our society can do for future generations.”

What drew you to the higher education world?

I didn’t begin my career in higher education, and when I was recruited by a former director of 91ֱ Development for a position at 91ֱ, I kept asking, “What exactly does development mean?” When I was told it was all about developing relationships to advance the university, I immediately knew this work was for me.

What do you enjoy most about your role at 91ֱ?

I truly believe that I am in my dream job today — building relationships with people such as alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff, and especially our benefactors. Many times, it is evident that individual benefactors see things from different perspectives, and those perspectives are based on their passions. It’s inspiring!

What do you hope students gain from 91ֱ?

Preparing students via transformative educational opportunities to serve our state, nation and world is something we do very well at 91ֱ. I hope that all of our graduates, but especially those students who have been assisted by the gifts of previous donors, experience a high level of success and are able and willing to give back to the university in order to support future students who may benefit from their generosity.

What are you passionate about outside of your role at 91ֱ?

I devote much of my time to teaching my children — and anyone else who will listen, for that matter — the importance of a higher education and the necessity of working hard in school from a very early age to make the most of every activity and every opportunity. This daily pursuit of excellence will reap rewards in terms of unlimited educational opportunities.
